Pesticide

I am a drop of pesticide. Today is the day I will be used to keep bugs off of the farmer's cotton crops. All of the other drops of pesticide are saying that the journey should be fun. Minutes later we are out in the open then on the crops. When I land on a leaf, 3 bugs are already flying away from that plant.
After what seemed to be an hour and a half, I was about to the bottom of the plant when it began to sprinkle, then it all poured down. I thought I was just going to go down into the ground but turns out I am being washed away.
In the next few minutes, the water is heading down a hill and I see a pond up ahead with many plants and animals. When the rain water reaches the pond, a lady bug flies away and a rabbit hops towards the little stream. It takes one sip of the stream, stops, then hops away slowly. Now I think being a pesticide isn't so great. Most of the other pesticides are in the pond, a lot of the animals living in and drinking the water are leaving.
A day later we have been evaporated and are about to fall as precipitation. I see that we have moved from the pond to a big nearby city. As I fall I see a statue, then I land on it. While I am sliding down it, I see I have taken off some of the statue. Not only was I a pesticide, I am now acid rain, polluting fresh water supplies and destroying some statues and cars. Now I know its not good being a pesticide.
Using one bad chemical can cause a lot of damage.

Soccer

Soccer is a famous team sport including two teams with eleven players each. This sport can have the name of soccer, football, futbol, and footy or footie. A soccer field can range from one hundred ten yards length and seventy yards width as the minimum measurement and one hundred twenty yards length and eighty yards width as the maximum measurement. The normal soccer field is a rectangle of grass or artificial turf with a goal post at each short end and can be played indoors or outdoors. The object of the game is to score the most goals in the opposing goal post. If the game were to end as a tie, it could be declared as a draw or the teams can go into over time and/or there can be a penalty shootout. Soccer is internationally governed by Fédération Internationale de Football Association (or the International Federation of Association Football), which is known by the acronym of FIFA and they hold a football competition every four years called the FIFA World Cup and has an audience twice the size of the Summer Olympic Games.
The rules for soccer are known as the “Laws of the Game” in which the most complicated rule is offside rule. This law limits attacking players ability to be closer to the opponents goal line, the second-to-last defending player, and the half-way line. Players who commit fouls while the ball is in play, can be punished with a yellow card (a caution) or a red card (being sent off.)
The FIFA World Cup has over one hundred ninety national teams that compete over the four years between each World Cup Tournament to qualify for the finals. At the finals, thirty two national teams compete for four weeks to earn the FIFA World Cup. The last championship match took place in Germany in two thousand six and the next tournament will be two thousand ten in South America.
A regular soccer match has two forty-five minute quarters and usually a fifteen minute break between halves. After a match, it’s known as full-time. Even when the ball is out of play, the clock runs continually and doesn’t stop. The referee is the official time keeper of the match and may make an allowance for lost time through injured players, substitutions, and any other cause that stops game play. This time is known as “Stoppage Time” or “Injury Time” and isn’t stopped until the referee says. Only the referee can signal the end of the game. Time added to a half of a game was introduced because of an incident in a game in eighteen ninety-one between Stoke and Aston Villa. If a game is tied at the end of the match, then the referee may call for two more fifteen minute periods. If the game is still tied after the extra time, some competitions use a penalty shootout which is a kick from the penalty line. Teams can be from the MLS league or from worldwide teams like the Columbus Crew or Manchester United.

4 Days of School a Week

Have you ever wanted only 4 days of school? Wouldn’t you want an extra day of the weekend? This is what could help teachers, students, and the district! If we could get the government to only give us 4 days of school, think of the extraordinary times you could have with your friends or the ultimately amazing trips you and your family could have with 3 day weekends!
If the government allowed us to have 4 days of school, teachers could work on their lesson plans on Friday and have time on Saturday and Sunday to do things they want or need to do like go to parks or grocery stores. On the day off, teachers will also have more time to eat lunch because they won’t have to worry about kids coming back from lunch.
If there were only 4 days of school, students would have more time to rest and relax and be awake and alert more at school. If students were to be assigned homework over the weekend, they would have more time to complete it. Another good thing for having 4 days of school is that kids who pack their lunch won’t spend as much money on items for lunch.
Having only 4 days of school would really help the district by spending less money on heating, electricity, and water bills. The district would also spend less money on gas and oil changes for busses and other school transportation. Less money will be spent on school lunches and some kids don’t even start or finish their lunches which is a waste of money.
Just think about it. It could really help the teachers, students and the district. Thanks for your time and try imagining 4 days of school and what it could do for you.
